7 Tips To Reduce Your Blog Load Time

Reduce blog load time
One of the most important things that you should keep in mind when  running a blog is your blog load time. Blog load time plays a very important role in your blog success. If your blog loads faster then its good but if it takes more time to load then you will loose your visitors. People will leave/quit your blog when they will realize that it is taking more time to load.

How can I check my blog load time?

There are many tools available on the internet where you can check whether your blog loads faster or slower. But here I will recommend you to use Google PageSpeed Insights tool to check your blog load time.
Go to the above given link and enter your blog URL then click on Analyze. It will give you a total score out of 100. If you get a total score more than 90 then all is well, you don't need to worry about your blog load time but if you get a total score less than 90 then you will have to do something to increase your blog speed.

Now, what can you do to increase your blog speed? Below are some tips to help you making your blog load faster.

Tips to reduce your blog load time

1) Reduce number of posts from homepage

Number of posts showing in your homepage affects your blog speed. If you are showing lots of posts in one page then your blog will load slower. I recommend you to show 5 to 6 posts per page, do not show more than that.

2) Use read more links

Do not show full post in your homepage. Just show few lines or a paragraph instead. And use a read more link/button after that.

3) Remove unwanted Widgets/Gadgets

Showing more gadgets and widgets will slow down your blog speed. Better is to avoid using unwanted gadgets/widgets like calendar, pageviews and etc.

4) Use small images

Using large images will decrease your blog load time. Always try to use images that are small in size. Use image editor softwares like Microsoft Paint to resize your images then upload it to your blog.

5) Use PNG of GIF image format

PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics and GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. These image formats are smaller in size and browser friendly. PNG image format is better than GIF as it is well compressed and smaller in size. Using PNG or GIF image format will reduce your blog load time.

6) Show limited ads

Many bloggers use lots of ads on their blogs to earn more money. If you are doing so, then you are doing wrong. Advertisement gadgets use javascript that reduces your blog speed. Use limited ads to make your blog load faster.

7) Third party Javascript

You should avoid using third party Javascripts. But if you need to use it, then use it in the bottom of your blog or if you are using it in sidebar, use in the bottom of the sidebar.

I hope that these tips will help you to make your blog faster. If you think that I've missed some tips or if you have any question then kindly leave your comment below.

  7. Your tips are really good. One more thing we can do to reduce blog load time is eliminating external links from our blog like stat counters. We can use Google Analytic instead of stat counter gadgets. Please let me know if you are agree with me.
